Pronounced: Boh-Bahl.
Bobal is a vigorous and productive indigenous red wine grape variety that is grown in the Utiel-Requena region of Valencia. Bobal is known for producing deeply pigmented wines with a medium to full body, medium to high alcohol content, lovely acidity and supple tannins. The flavour profile of Bobal is characterized by notes of red and black fruit, such as strawberries, pomegranate, blackberry and cherries, spice (cloves), liquorice and hints of leather, cocoa and black tea.
Perfect Pairing. Bobal is a versatile grape that pairs well with a variety of foods, particularly chicken and game dishes, and hearty pasta dishes. It makes a good match for flavourful roast game dishes, Moroccan tagines where fruit is featured in the dishes and bold cheeses. It is also a popular choice for sipping on its own, due to its rich fruity flavours and velvet finish.
