Pronounced:

Mazuelo, also known as Cariñena / Carignan / Carignane, and Samsó, is a red wine grape variety that is grown in several regions around the world, including Valencia in Spain, France, and California. Mazuelo is known for producing wines with a medium to full body, medium to high alcohol content, and firm tannins. The flavour profile of Mazuelo is characterized by notes of dark fruit, such as blackberries and cherries, along with hints of spice, leather, and earthy notes.

Perfect Paring. Mazuelo is a versatile grape that pairs well with a variety of foods, particularly grilled meats, stews, and hearty pasta dishes. Its firm tannins make it a good match for flavourful dishes and bold cheeses. It is also a popular choice for sipping on its own, due to its rich and full-bodied flavour profile.
