One of the simplest and easiest Spanish dishes that you can cook in under 5 minutes.
Whilst the majority of these delicious Padrón peppers are sweet and mild, the popular Spanish saying - unos pican, otros no - "Some are hot, some are not" is deserved. Roughly one in every twenty will provide a bit of a spicy hit, roughly on par with a jalapeno. So be aware!
Many people prepare these delicious treats as tapas or as a starter. If you are like me, they can be a meal all on there own when paired with some quality Jamon, Manchego and a good Spanish wine.
Ingredients
- Olive oil - tablespoon is probably all you will need
- Padron Peppers (500g)
- Some good quality Sea Salt flakes
Preparation
No real prep time needed, other than sourcing the Padron Peppers, which can be difficult.
Method
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the peppers, stirring frequently, for 5 mins until blistered and wilted. The peppers should be soft and ever so slightly charred.
- Transfer the peppers to a serving plate and season liberally with sea salt.
