Martín Códax

Martín Códax

Bodegas Martín Códax was founded in 1985 and was named after the most well known Galician troubadour whose medieval poems (the oldest of the Galician language) are preserved today. A common theme of the poems, that are sung is the Galician coastline. Martín Códax is located in the Val de Salnés in the Rias Baixas DO where its winery is located (a photo of the winery appears below).

The winery was set up by 270 members, and relies on the collaboration of 300 families whose grapes are used in production. Bodegas Martín Códax has become a symbol of Galician wines.

Mara Martin Godello comes from DO Monterrei (meaning king’s mountain) and is further inland in comparison to DO Rías Baixas, where it is warmer, but still influenced by the Atlantic.
