The history of Osborne goes back to the end of the 18th Century, when Thomas Osborne Mann, a young English wine merchant arrived in the Cádiz region to sell wines from the area. He soon began to do business in Puerto de Santa María, and this is where he acquired various wineries that he would later bring together under one brand: Osborne. Its long and successful track record of almost 250 years, have made Osborne into the internationally recognised brand that it is today.
Osborne has remained in the hands of the same family over seven generations. It is now one of the best-known brandy and sherry producers both in Spain and across international markets. Whilst the brand has diversified significantly in the intervening years, Sherry production is concentrated around DO Jerez-Xeres-Sherry in the sherry triangle of Andalusia in Southern Spain.
Osborne is synonymous with the Spanish countryside due to a 60 year old advertising campaign. In 1956, designer Manolo Prieto, created the iconic Osborne bull that has since become a recognized part of the Spanish landscape. Today there are more than 200 Osborne bulls placed throughout Spain (pictured below) on prominent hillsides.
