Ramón Bilbao was established Haro, the heart of the autonomous region of La Rioja in 1924. It was the second effort at establishing the vineyard, after being initially wiped out because of the effects of phylloxera at the turn of the twentieth century. Today Ramon Bilbao has vines in Rias Baixas and Rueda as well as in the heartland of Rioja. The Majority of Ramon Bilbao is produced in DOCa Rioja, which is one of only two DOCa’s in all of Spain. DOCa wines sit at the pinnacle of wine production in Spain.
