Raig de Raim 2019

When you talk about delicious and approachable red wine from Spain, there aren't many better than Raig de Raim from DO Terra Alta in Cataluna. Produced by the fourth generation of the Peñol family of winemakers, this wine is a fruit forward blend of Garnacha (75%) and Cariñena (25%). There are lovely intense red fruit aromas tending towards jam, herbs, spice and with a balsamic and black liquorice background on the pallet. Oak aging provides an additional toasted oak, and meatiness layer of complexity and enjoyment, without overpowering the delicious primary fruit base. A supremely well balanced wine and a family favourite in our house - I struggle to keep this in my cellar, as it is the 'go to' wine for my three sons when they get together.

Perfect Pairing: It pairs beautifully with everything - red and white roasted meat, cheese platters and charcuterie. After a lazy night? order a pizza or pasta and open a bottle of Raig de Raim. Mmmmm!
