Txakolina can describe a few things, including: the region of production (Pais Vasco - Basque Spain); the style of wine (light, bright & slightly prickly in the mouth); and the literal translation (wine enough for the home). The white version is made exclusively with Hondarabbi Zuri. The wines exhibit melon, lime, peach and a salty minerality on the nose and the tongue.
Perfect Pairing: The prickliness/effervescence on the tongue is delicious and suits the local cuisine of seafood and Pintxos (The Basque alternative to tapas). A great alternative style to a Chardonnay, so think: Mild and creamy cheeses (Brie), pasta with cheese-based or butter sauces, white fish and shellfish, chicken in creamy or butter-based sauces. If you are feeling brave, try it with Japanese, Mexican or a mild vegetable curry.
